DAY 01 –AIRPORT – NEGOMBO (D)
Arrival, welcome by a representative of Lanka Sportreizen , transfer to Negombo. Negombo is a city on the west coast of Sri Lanka, north of the capital, Colombo. Near the waterfront, the remains of the 17th-century Dutch Fort now house a prison. Negombo Lagoon, lined with fishermen’s huts, feeds into the Dutch-era Hamilton Canal. DAY 02 – NEGOMBO – SIGIRIYA – DAMBULLA (B/L/D)
After breakfast at the hotel proceed to Sigiriya. Sigiriya Lion Rock is an ancient rock fortress known for its massive column of rock that reaches nearly 200 meters high. The site dates back to the reign of King Kasyapa (477- 495 AD), who chose this site as his new capital. He decorated the walls with frescoes, and built an impressive palace right on top of the rock column, accessible only through the mouth of an enormous carved lion. Sigiriya today is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. It is one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning. Lunch – Outside restaurant. After lunch transfer to Dambulla, In the city of Dambulla lies a hub which has been treasured by many kings since the 1st century B.C. Today, an icon in the face of Sri Lanka, Dambulla Rock Temple houses some of the most unique drawings in magnificently constructed 5 cave temples flanking the golden temple of Dambulla. Observe how exquisitely cave paintings are done along walls that shelter 150 statues of Lord Buddha. Visit Dambulla Cave temple. The Dambulla temple complex comprises five caves which have been converted into shrine rooms, images of the Buddha, and over 1,500 ceiling murals. The caves are at the base of a 150m high rock built by King Valagambahu who took refuge in it when exiled from Anuradhapura in the 1st century BC. Dinner & Overnight stay at Hotel
DAY 03 –DAMBULLA (B/L/D)
After Breakfast at the Hotel, Visit Pidurangala Rock. Pidurangala Rock is an incredible 360-degree viewpoint located opposite the world- famous Sigiriya Lion Rock. Hiking to the top is possible for both of these rocks, but hiking at dawn to the top of Pidurangala Rock is a real adventure. Proceed to Minneriy. Visit Minneriya National Park. Minneriya National Park is a national park in North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The area was designated as a national park on 12 August 1997, having been originally declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 1938.The reason for declaring the area as protected is to protect the catchment of Minneriya tank and the wildlife of the surrounding area. The tank is of historical importance, having been built by King Mahasen in third century AD. The park is a dry season feeding ground for the elephant population dwelling in forests of Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Trincomalee districts. Lunch at Outside Restaurant. Back to Dambulla. DAY 04 –DAMBULLA – KANDY (B/L/D)
After Breakfast at the Hotel, Leave for Kandy. En-route visit Spice Garden. Transfer to Kandy – “The Hill Capital” Kandy…………. literally the “City on the Hills” so named as it was protected by the nature – water, rocks and jungles. The last capital of the Sri Lankan kings before falling to the British in 1815AD which is a World Heritage Site. The name Kandy conjures vision of splendour of magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. The centre of attraction is the golden roofed Temple of the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. The Kandy Lake built by the last King Sri Wickramarajasinghe in 1806 holds a prominent view of the City. It is a City for arts and crafts as well culture and history. Where aromas of cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, pepper and mace romanticises the air, tantalising the senses – a spice garden is what it is; When visiting a spice garden, you will discover the different types of herbs and spices of Sri Lanka’s pride, its uses and benefits. Lunch at outside restaurant. Visit Kandy Temple & Evening Visit Cultural Show. The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic or Sri Dalada Maligawa, is a Buddhist temple in Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. The Kandy Lake Club Cultural Dance Show is a stimulating Sri Lankan Arts, Dance & Cultural Heritage Show that is a must see for any visitor who visits the historic city of Kandy. The Kandy Lake Club Dance started in 1982 with the view of having a cultural dance performance bringing together all Sri Lankan dance types to one platform. DAY 05 – KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA (B/D/L)
After Breakfast at the Hotel, Leave for Nuwara Eliya -“Little England” through the Hill Country surrounded by “Green Carpets”- hills covered with Tea and cascading Water Falls amidst breathtakingly beautiful landscapes.En route visit a Tea Factory and a Plantation to witness the manufacturing process of world famous “Ceylon Tea” and to taste a pure unblended cup of factory fresh tea before being sent to the Tea Auctions in Colombo leading to Export.Sightseeing in the city- the important places being the Gregory Lake, Golf Course and Market etc. Lunch – Outside restaurant. DAY 06 – NUWARA ELIYA – ELLA (B/D/L)
After Breakfast at the Hotel, Leave for Ella. Ella has all the best parts of Sri Lanka rolled into one: beautiful jungle mountains, rolling tea plantations, and epic waterfalls. As one of the biggest tea producers, travelers can look forward to spending their days among the greenest surroundings, enjoying the views from hilltop houses and adventurous hiking trails. DAY 07 –ELLA – YALA (B/D/L)
After Breakfast at the Hotel, Leave for Yala Visit Yala National Park. Yala National Park is located on the southern tip of Sri Lanka on the border of the Southern and Uva provinces. It covers an area of 377.9 square miles (978.8 sq km). The national park features a diverse ecosystem that includes monsoon forests, dry monsoon forests, thorn forests, marine and freshwater wetlands, grasslands, marshes, and sandy beaches along the coast. Yala is comprised mostly of metamorphic rock with reddish- brown and grey soil topping most of the area. Lunch – Outside restaurant. Dinner & Overnight stay at Hotel
DAY 08 – YALA– KOSGODA – GALLE – BENTOTA (B/L/D)
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Galle After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Kosgoda. Visit Turtle Hatchery Kosgoda is the one of the very few hatcheries where all the five species in the country make their nests. They are the Olive Ridleys, Leatherbacks, Green Turtles, Loggerheads and Hawksbills. Lunch – Outside restaurant. Visit Galle City Tour. The capital of the southern province is a city with a colourful history. UNESCO declared World Heritage Site the magnificent Dutch fort is the most popular attraction of the town. 300-year-old Dutch atmosphere is still very much alive around the fort and amidst its many historical buildings not invaded by the skyscrapers. Proceed to Bentota. Bentota is a resort town on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast. Its long Bentota Beach stretches north, where it becomes a sandy strip known as Paradise Island, parallel to Bentota Lagoon. Coral-rich dive sites include Canoe Rock. On Bentota River, centuries- old Galapota Temple has a large Buddha statue. Southeast is Lunuganga, the estate and gardens of architect Geoffrey Bawa. Northeast is his brother Bevis’s Brief Garden. DAY09– BENTOTA (B/L/D)
After Packet breakfast at the hotel, Visit Madu River Boat Ride. The Madu River is a shallow river which flows into the sea at Balapitiya it is giving protection to the variety of aquatic plants, crabs, shrimps, fish, various invertebrates and other animal life including crocodiles. surrounding area of the madu river covered in mangrove forests. DAY 10– IN COLOMBO (B/L/D)
After breakfast at Hotel, Proceed to Colombo. Visit Colombo City Tour and Visit Colombo Shopping Places. Undertake a City Tour of Colombo including a Buddhist Temple, Pettah, Dutch, a Hindu Temple, Mosque, Town Hall, Gangaramaya Temple, BMICH (Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall), Cinnamon Gardens – Prime residential area, the Nelum Pokuna – the newly opened Performing Arts Theatre, the newly opened Nelum Kuluna. – South Asia’s highest Tower etc. Lunch at outside restaurant. Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 11–COLOMBO- DEPARTURE (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, Proceed to airport for departure.
